I like your advice - be yourself, maybe just a bit louder and frequently than normal, but be yourself. I think that helps center us and keep us grounded in the self-promo process. I'll keep that in mind; good thing to remember. Cheers!Mark Adairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18013485931162489683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7587669931780321231.post-27061527300255060222011-02-24T05:14:33.788-08:002011-02-24T05:14:33.788-08:00Just to say thank you for the lovely comments on B...Just to say thank you for the lovely comments on Betty's review on my novel.

However, also to say... I find the self-promotion thing daunting as well. I'm taking the track of trying to talk in my own voice, whatever. I suppose, as I'm trying to sell a vision, as much as a book. So I try to speak as me. Not that 'vision' implies any huge weight. No matter the subject matter of any novel, the writer is trying to create a sense of world view - be it light hearted comedy to suspense to romance to erotica.

So I'm trying to speak as me, on da internetz, even if I'm talking a bit more loudly, and bit more frequently, than I'd like! Hope that makes sense. :-) Loved the post!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08541797202156853477noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7587669931780321231.post-67030439762960321772011-02-16T12:55:03.718-08:002011-02-16T12:55:03.718-08:00The self-promo takes practice, Mark. Thank you for leaving a comment and for the very kind words. :)

I have a few friends who really love their Sony but, no, I don't have one. I started with a Kindle primarily because of the large market share and I liked it enough to stay with it.

It brings up an interesting point for writers: what platform to publish on. Originally I published my suspense/thriller on Amazon but subsequently, based primarily on feedback like yours, I expanded that to the Nook and then to Smashwords which includes support for Sony readers among several others.

What's your favorite thing about your Sony reader?Mark Adairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18013485931162489683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7587669931780321231.post-34704181256877862452011-02-08T20:28:26.975-08:002011-02-08T20:28:26.975-08:00I appreciate you for such well-done article! I believe in putting other people before myself and I go out of my way to do this because that's just the type of person I am. I love helping others. I think as authors we should support each other because we all go through the same up and downs in writing. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and thanks for supporting authors like me, who are tying to make a name ourself.
